Power of Place

In 2021, Learn to Earn Dayton was tapped by national partners to invest in the community in a meaningful way. L2ED worked to center power in the heart of the community while amplifying resident voice was the Northwest Dayton Partnership, a two-year initiative that resulted in the Power of Place plan, and continues to positively impact the Hope Zone neighborhoods as priority projects, such as Access to Council and School Board School, are launched.

Two-Generation Collaborative

Learn to Earn Dayton serves as the backbone organization for the Montgomery County Two-Generation Collaborative—providing a network of best practices and resources for the partner organizations serving the neighborhoods.

CommInvestmentFund

Community Investment Fund

As part of our commitment to place-based work and centering community voice, Learn to Earn Dayton has partnered with The Dayton Foundation and generous donors to launch a grant opportunity for deeply connected, yet historically under-resourced organizations to build their capacity. First launched as an element of the Northwest Dayton Partnership, the Community Investment Fund is led by residents, who use their knowledge of their own community to make funding decisions. This trust-based philanthropy is a game-changer in our region, serving as a tangible example of the good that is possible when you put the power of philanthropy in the hands of the neighbors benefiting from the proposed programs.

Kindergarten Readiness

Ohio uses the “Kindergarten Readiness Assessment” tool to facilitate guided observation of a child’s preparedness for school. Skilled kindergarten teachers assess students within the first six weeks of school to make determinations about the child’s knowledge and ability in four key areas: social and emotional development, language and literacy, mathematics, and physical well-being and motor development.
