It’s never too early to help young people think through what they want to do after graduation. Talk to your student about his or her interests and how those interests can lead to great jobs — provided your son or daughter gets the right education.
Encourage your son or daughter to talk to the school counselor about careers and going to college.
Take your student on college visits.
Ask your school about job shadow opportunities for young people during the school year or over the summer.
Help your student investigate volunteer opportunities where he or she will be exposed to a workplace.
