Help your student learn about careers

It's never too early to help young people think through what they want to do after graduation. Talk to your student about his or her interests and how those interests can lead to great jobs — provided your son or daughter gets the right education.

Encourage your student to talk to the school counselor about careers and going to college.

Take him or her on college visits.

Ask your school about job shadow opportunities for young people during the school year or over the summer.

Help your student investigate volunteer opportunities where he or she will be exposed to a workplace.

In-demand jobs
are available

Employers in the Dayton region and all across the country have jobs to offer, but they can't find people with the right skills. Many of these in-demand jobs are in professions that students don't think about because they've simply never heard of them.

Every young person can get a great job if he or she prepares well and earns a degree or credential!
